FROM The Desk of the Vice Chair
Why is it when your prayers are answered it feels too good to be true?
Being a creature of habit I say my prayers every night, have done so since I was a child. Sometimes I would ask that the weather be nice for a special day or that the blue bike I liked would be under the tree on Christmas morn.
As I grew older and understood the power of prayer, the prayers would change to accommodate the changes in my life, for children, family and friends.
I have seen all of my prayers answered, not with the answer I always wanted but over time I came to accept that a ‘no’ to a prayer was what I deserved. So it only stands to reason in my codependent mind that if I receive a positive answer as a result of prayer it is too good to be true?
For me belief that I am worthy or deserving of anything good in my life is very difficult. I search the answer and decide that either I can not accept what God has placed in my reach so I ignore it or I do something to sabotage the reality of its existence. Then I can say to myself “see it WAS too good to be true”.
In my recovery I am learning that I am deserving of the good given to me by my Higher Power. I must remember that God knows my heart’s desires and does answer my prayers in my best interest.
I have been trying to adopt a new philosophy…..It’s too good, NOT to be true.
To answered prayers,
Rhonnie, Vice Chair
From your CoDA Chair - 2nd Annual CoDA Round-up Update
Hello everyone! I wanted to take a moment and make mention of our Second CoDA Round-Up held October 16. The event was a huge success and a good time was had by all.
We started the day with a workshop for Newcomer's led by Annette. Though it was geared toward those that are new to the program, we old-timers got a lot out of it as well.
Next, Peggy led us in a talk about the fourth step. This step is challenging and often-times the most daunting of all the steps. Talking about it together helped us all to see that it's not only beneficial and essential to our recovery; it is also not as scary as one might think!
After all that work we needed some time to relax so CJ guided us through various meditation exercises. This was a great opportunity to learn some of the many ways by which to relax and go inside ourselves.
To end the day on an up note, Rhonnie and I brought out the colors and talked to everyone about art therapy! This allowed us all to get in touch with our inner child and just have some plain old fun with crayons!
Due to a family illness, our original speaker was unable to attend but Sharon was gracious enough to step up to the plate and speak on short notice. Sharon did a great job and we are truly grateful to her for sharing her story with us.
Throughout the day we held a book sale and silent auction. Together these raised approximately $175. That is awesome - thanks everyone! We still have plenty of books left so if you missed this book sale don't worry, there will be another one to come.
I am already starting to plan the next speaker's meeting and any input is appreciated. If you have ideas for speakers or workshops, please let me know!
Thanks again to all those who attended and participated throughout the day.
Also, thanks to those that led the workshops and helped in set-up/clean-up.
Your service work is truly appreciated!
Peace and love,
Sarah A.

Getting to Know You
The “Getting to Know You!” section will focus on a different CoDA member each moth. This way we can get to know one another better!

- A: 12, because that has become true for me, serenity, strength and spiritual growth.

- A: Language of Letting Go and Purpose Driven Life
- Please remember to bring in your 7th tradition meeting donations to the montly service meeting. The formula is 80% to the 12-Step house and 20% to the CoDa service group. Each group should keep a prudent reserve of $10-$15 for individual meeting expenses such as chips, literature, etc.
