INSPIRATIONS AND AFFIRMATIONS (January/February 2003)

This was written by Audrey Hepburn when she was asked to share her "beauty tips". It was read at her funeral years later...

"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others."

"Is it possible to be standing on one side of a door and perceive the world as a dark and lonely place, while on the other side of that very same door are countless people just waiting to lend support and cheer you on. All that is required is that you turn the knob"

Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of "Camp Complaining"
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To "thank" is a commandUntil we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude
Xalting God most high
Yes, there'll be good times and yes, some will be bad but...
Zion waits in glory...where none are ever sad!

Walking This Path of Life, You and I

I am not alone as your large callused hand holds my small one,
Your arm embracing me, giving me strength

The sound of your voice is a balm to my wounded heart,
Your faith in me, a salve to my battered soul

Brightening my darkest day, my face lights from your smile

Opening my mind with your words
frisbees of thought fly through
Giving me mental gum to chew on

Enjoying laughter and hopes, dreams and desires
our shared secrets fill our empty pasts

Still loving me after knowing the deepest,
darkest secrets of my soul

Sharing your fears and pain, trusting I will not judge

I am blessed to have you as a true friend.

Be careful of your thoughts, for they determine your words
Be careful of your words, for your words become your actions
Be careful of your actions, for your actions become your habits
Be careful of your habits, for your habits become your character
Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny.
