INSPIRATIONS AND AFFIRMATIONS (May / June 2004)

WORKING WITH GOD
Submitted by Annette M.

A woman finds herself in serious trouble. Her business has gone bust and she's in dire financial straits. She's so desperate that she decides to ask God for help.

She begins to pray, "God, please help me. I've lost my business and if I don't get some money, I'm going to lose my house as well. Please let me win the lottery."

Lottery night comes, and somebody else wins.

She again prays... "God, please let me win the lottery! I've lost my business, my house and I'm going to lose my car as well."

Lottery night comes and she still has no luck.

Once again, she prays... "My God, why have you forsaken me? I've lost my business, my house, and my car. My children are starving. I don't often ask You for help, and I've always been a good servant to You. PLEASE let me win the lottery just this one time so I can get my life back in order."

Suddenly there is a blinding flash of light as the heavens open. The blonde is overwhelmed by the Voice of God, Himself....

"Sweetheart, work with Me on this.... Buy a ticket."

The Senility Prayer
Submitted Anonymous

God,
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
The good fortune to run into the ones I do,
And the eyesight to tell the difference.

Quotes from Dr. Phil
Submitted by Annette M.

“ "NEW ATTITUDE"---ASK YOUR SELF IS WHAT I AM DOING WORKING FOR ME??? “

“I WOULD RATTHER BE HAPPY THAN RIGHT”

“I OWE IT TO MY SELF TO TAKE CARE OF ME SO I CAN BE GOOD TO OTHERS AND MY FAMILY”

“WHAT ARE YOU GIVING AWAY IN YOUR LIFE????”

“LOSERS DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE RISK AND WINNERS GET OUT OF THERE COMFORT ZONE AND TAKE THE RISK”

“LIVE WITH A SPIRIT OF ACCEPTANCE.”

"To laugh is to risk appearing the fool. To weep is to risk being called sentimental. To reach out to another is to risk involvement. To expose feelings is to risk showing your true self. To place your ideas and your dreams before them is to risk being called naive. To love is to risk not being loved in return. To live is to risk dying. To hope is to risk despair, and to try is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing and becomes nothing. He [or she] may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live. Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave, he's forfeited his freedom.

Only the person who risks is truly free."
