INSPIRATIONS AND AFFIRMATIONS (May/June 2003)

"She who walks in another's tracks leaves no footprints of her own..."

Today I will delete from my diary two days: yesterday and tomorrow. Yesterday was to learn and tomorrow will be the consequence of what I can do today.

Today I will face life with the conviction that this day will not ever return

Today is the last opportunity I have to live intensely, as no one can assure me that I will see tomorrow's sunrise.

Today I will be brave enough not to let any opportunity pass me by, my only alternative is to succeed.

Today I will invest my most valuable resource: my time, in the most transcendental work: my life.

Today I will defy every obstacle that appears on my way trusting I will succeed.

Today I will resist pessimism and will conquer the world with a smile, with the positive attitude of expecting always the best.

Today I will make of every ordinary task a sublime expression.

Today I will take the time to be happy and will leave my footprints and my presence in the hearts of others.

Today, I will invite you to begin a new season where we can dream that everything we undertake is possible and we fulfill it, with joy and dignity.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

You may be only one person in the world, but you may be the world to one person.

Ever notice that the people who are late are often much jollier than the people who have to wait for them.

The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on.

Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.

I am too blessed to be stressed.

HERE ARE THE POSITIVES

For all the negative things we have to say to ourselves, God has a positive answer for each one...

You say: God says:
It's Impossible All things are possible (Luke 18:27)
I'm too tired I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30)
Nobody really loves me I love you (John 3:16 & John 13:24)
I can't go on My grace is sufficient (2 Corintihians 12:9 & Psalm 91:15)
I can't figure things out I will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6)
I can't do it You can do all things (Phillippians 4:13)
I'm not able I am able (2 Corinthians 9:8)
It's not worth it It will be worth it (Romans 8:28)
I can't forgive myself I forgive you (1 John 1:9 & Romans 8:1)
I can't manage I will supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19)
I'm afraid I have not given you a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7)
I'm always worried and frustrated Cast all your cares on me (1 Peter 5:7)
I'm not smart enough I give you wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30)
I feel all alone I will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)

When you come to the edge of all the light you know and are about to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen. There will be solid ground to stand on or you will be taught to fly.

TENDING OUR INNER GARDEN
Gardening is a soul-feeding activity for many of us. We nurture and care for our flowers, vegetables and trees by watering, weeding and feeding them. Often we talk to them.

Studies done using special photgraphy demonstrate that plants react differently depending on how they are spoken to. When addressed in a soft and soothing manner, the energy around a plant expands and brightens, and the plant leans toward the speaker. But when a plant is spoken to harshly or approached threateningly, its energy field constricts, the colors around it darken and it leans away from the perceived threat.

What kind of gardener are we to our inner garden? Do we cultivate kindly? Prune with patience? Encourage and appreciate our flowering and our ability to bear frust? There is no other flower like us. We are each unique and beautiful, worthy of the finest care. A compassionate inner environment allows us to bloom more readily and more exquistely.

Gently allow an image of a flower to come into your mind's eye. Imagine this flower is a prt of you that is thirsty for appreciation and care. See yourself watering the flower from a beautiful pitcher. Imagine your flower lifting its head to accept the refreshing sprinkle. Feel its roots thankfully absorbing the sustaining and empowering water. Soak in the sensation of being nurtured and encouraged to grow.
